Welcome to Greenfield Engineering a small business in Southern Maryland. Greenfield was incorporated in July 2002. We build embedded realtime systems. We specialize in VxWorks VME systems and Graphical User Interfaces running in a realtime environment.
Background :: Greenfield Engineering is a small business based in
rural southern Maryland. Our
primary business is Software Engineering and Systems Engineering for complex
realtime systems of the US Navy. Systems
include realtime command and control of remote RF equipment and Identify
Friend or Foe Host Processing. Specialization
in complete requirement, design test and field of software and software
systems. Realtime :: Greenfield
Engineering has expertise in development of realtime systems utilizing the
vxWorks operating system. The
development platform is typically a SUN Sparc workstation.
These realtime systems are built by utilizing a cross compiler
development environment that is connecter to the host via Ethernet.
This allow for high speed compile and debugging while keeping the
target environment scalable. Graphical User
Interface :: Realtime
software systems are expanding capabilities by adding graphical user
interfaces and touch screen capability. Greenfield
Engineering developed a GUI based on X11 that runs as a task in the realtime
environment. This GUI utilizes
the Motif and XLib libraries to provide an open systems approach to the
software and its maintenance. Since
this system is small, it utilizes a front panel touch screen instead of the
typical mouse operation. This
saves space and makes the GUI intuitive. Linux ::
Linux graphical user
interfaces are typically built using the GNOME/GTK+ libraries.
This implementation is an easy step from the Motif library set and is
based on X11. Greenfield
Engineering is building a Linux software interface to control various
equipment over the Ethernet interface. Linux
is cost effective considering the open source software.
